Early Periodic Screening, Diagnosis and Treatment

Medicaid’s Early and Periodic Screening, Diagnostic, and Treatment program (EPSDT) ensures that low-income children receive not only preventive and primary health care, but comprehensive coverage for serious conditions that affect growth and development. The purpose of the EPSDT is to meet the medical needs of children birth to twenty-one years of age with the goal of ensuring healthy child development.
