Preschool Special Education Programs

JUST KIDS offers an integrated special education program for preschoolers with disabilities with a variety of support services to assist a child with early learning needs. Teachers provide a supportive learning environment that offers opportunities for children to use their imagination, explore, socialize and participate in active language activities and play. Learning is viewed as an interactive process that requires and emphasizes language and socialization. Activities are planned in a learner-centered way to support the differing needs of young children.

Preschool Special Education Services
If approved by the school district, arrangements will be made for an eligible child to receive one or more of the following special education programs and/or services recommended by the Committee on Preschool Special Education (CPSE) including, but not limited to: Teachers place great importance on listening, problem-solving, and building a sense of self, and trust in their environment.

Parents are involved in all elements of their child’s program and are encouraged to meet with teachers and therapists to discuss their child’s progress and program. Parents are viewed as partners in all aspects of the program.

Parents work in partnership with the JUST KIDS staff to coordinate services through a written plan called an IFSP (Individualized Family Service Plan) for children birth to three years of age and an IEP (Individualized Education Program) for children three to five years of age attending preschool special education.
